The Hidden Risks: Profit-Driven Qualifications vs. True Operational Competence in Tree Felling

Practical arboriculture encompasses a diverse range of skills, with tree felling being fundamental for ensuring safety during tree removals.

Across the country: when the gap between our qualifications and our experience meet the wrong circumstance, unnecessary tragedy follows. It’s getting worse not better. What will it take for us as an industry to look closely at the real factors causing this? Can we do better? I say yes.

We don’t need more “red tape” or “Kellogg’s” tickets. Equally businesses should not be burdened by additional ineffective administration or exposure to avoidable litigation. These are not part of the solution. No more tree workers or their families should suffer the consequences of accidents in our industry.

Discussions will include: what frameworks we have now, what could be used better and what we can do right now to make our industry safer. This is an important conversation for industry if we are to improve tree felling safety and consequently that of tree removals.
